2010 Summer Trip (first part)

Our first stop was Nauvoo, Illinois.  We saw the Joseph Smith pageant.  It was about the beginnings of the Church in Nauvoo and about the Prophet Josehp.  This is inside Brigham Youngs home.  We saw all the great buildings left, the Brickyard, Blacksmith shop, post office, the Red Brick store, print shop, Browning hom and Gunsmith shop. The monuments to women, Joseph and Emmas Memorial the Trail of Hope and a fun play put on in the Visitors center by the yound Missionaries.  It was beautiful here, rain off and on the whole time.  We even went to Carthage to see the jail.

The second stop was Niagra Falls in Canada.  We were all ready drenched from the rain walking to get to the Maid of the Mist.  But the rain poncho's they gave us did help.  Especially by the falls.

What a wet group!  Anthony, Christina and Bob.  You can see Canada behind them.  This was so fun!
Niagra Falls.  We went right under that huge mist you see.  It was great!

The American side.  We were soaked to the bone.  We decided to skip the Palmyra pageant because of the rain and try to dry out.
We went the next morning to Palmyra to go to the Sacred grove.  So beautiful and peaceful.  Even though there were thousands of people there for the pageant!

This the Hill Cumorah in Palmyra, New York all set up for the pageant tonight.  We just traveled on by to see its beauty, but avoid the crowds.
This is Bob standing in front of the Martin Harris home in Palmyra, New York.
We drove to Sharon, Vermont for our next stop. The Joseph Smith monument.  Built 38 1/2 feet tall to represent how old he was when he was martyred.
The grounds around the visitors center.  They have hymns playing softly all the time.  It is a sacred spot.
More to come. The blog is starting to have problems
