More about Christina!!

She had both her big toenails cut on Monday because of in-grown toenails. She handled the pain really well. She is hobbling around with huge band-aid wraps on them right now. We will try to reduce the size of the band-aid soon so she can start walking normal again. She has started singing lessons again every Wednesday and Ballet lessons on Tues. and Thurs. and Company Ballet rehersals Saturdays for four hours, and Jazz classes on Friday. She is also in the School Variety show which practices everyday for an hour. Soon they will start practicing early in the morning before school starts. I don't think she would know what to do without a dozen things to do. She still fits Young womens in there on Wednesday nights. I am so glad she is able to drive now so that I can have a break and not have to be every where she is all the time!

New Calling!

Bob has been called as the Young Men's President. He is a little nervous about this. He had been the 11 year old Scout leader for five years before this. He hopes he will be able to adust for 11 year olds to 16-18 year olds!

Celebrate America Show

The week of September 1-6 was a very busy one for Christina. She went to school until 3:00 pm, then came home and put her makeup on and fixed her hair, then left for Celebrate America Shows at 4:00 pm and got home usually around 12:30 am. It was a great show to see. We went to the family showing (thier dress rehersal) on Tuesday and then Bob and I went to the dinner and show on Saturday night. They served a fabulous buffet, then performed the show which was a very fast paced, high energy show! And then the "Big Band" played songs to dance to for over 2 hours! It was great! Here are a few pictures of the action! This is the opening number "Puttin' on the Ritz". Christina is in the front. You can see the band in the back of some of these pictures. This is the recognition of all the military, firefighters, and policemen. Christina is on the far right, holding a rifle. She would do flips and tosses with it. This picture is during the family show (dress rehersal). They wore these wigs for the hula. Christina did hula so well! Christina is in the center back. This is a dance and song offering all the service men a "Merry Christmas" This is still part of the dance for a "Merry Christmas". Christina is fourth from the guy. This is one of the lifts Christina got to do. Others tried out, but they couldn't do them, so Christina got to be the one to do 3 lifts. She loves doing lifts. After the show, during the "Big Band" dancing, the cast was allowed to dance also as long as they wore formals and looked professional. Christina borrowed this one from Anarie. Christina's friend, Acadia, planned a surprise party for! She started planning clear back in January! She got some friends together and they planned to have a miniature golf game and then go back to Acadia's house for a dance. The friends were invited to bring dates or just come "stag". We got this boy Christina knows from "The Celebrate America show" to ask her out on a date. All along she just thought she was going on her first date! Then when she got to the Celebration Center she found out differently! She had a really good time.

This is two different Hula dances. They are just wearing their cast t-shirts and black dance skirts. They will have beautiful costumes for the show. Singers in the back ground. With one main singer for one of the dances below. Christina is on the far right in all the pictures. This is the dance "Puttin' on the ritz'" It is going to be such a vibrant show! The crowd here was thouroughly enjoy it!

Uinta Camping Trip

Grandpa and Savannah Anthony and his huge? fish Tom actually did catch a big fish! Elise with her catch. It is about 8:30 pm, so it is getting a little dark. Christina and her fish.

On Wed. July 30 we went up to the Uinta Mountains to go camping. We invited our sons to come along if they wanted. Thomas and Elise and their two children Savannah and Olivia, and Anthony and Trudy came with us. The ride up was uneventful until we turned off the main road onto the dirt road heading to Little Lyman Lake. For 16+ grueling miles we were tossed about and bounced along until we came to the spot where we set up camp. Few! The jolting is over, now it's time to fight the hordes of mosquitoes and horse flies! Savannah looks like she has the chicken pox, she was biten so many times. The Uinta's are very beautiful. We camped somewhat close to the river. Bob went fishing every morning before anyone else was even up. We fished in the evening. We did catch and release. Everyone had a great time fishing. Christina brought her bow and arrows and used a box for a target. A moose and her calf walked right by our camp maybe 60 yards away! Anthony brought up his four wheeler and we would drive around looking at the beautiful meadows and cliffs. On Friday we took the truck and four wheeler to go see an old abandoned area where there are over 10 log cabins left from what use to be an old railroad workers community. When we got back into the truck, it turned on, but sounded awful. There wasn't enough power to put it into 2nd gear. Finally we started chugging down the road back to camp. We were driving 5-10 miles per hour! Once in awhile it would get enough power to get up to 15 mph, but then it would die down again. So, we prayed and hoped the truck would work on Saturday so we could get out of the Uintas! When Bob started it up again on Saturday morning it would cough and hardly get up enough power to shift into gear! So, we decided we would leave the trailer, Anthony would drive his four wheeler out, and Tom and Elise would follow behind us to make sure we could get out. We left everything in the trailer so their would be less for the truck to carry. We drove out going 10 mph. Going up the hills we were afraid the truck wasn't going to make it, or that it might start rolling backwords! But the truck kept going! Once we got over the summit of 10,235 feet, we started downhill and coasted most of the way. When we got to the main road we put the four wheeler in the back of the truck and sent Tom and Elise on to find an Auto Zone. We were driving pretty fast (up to 50 mph) considering the problems! Maybe the truck had altitude sickness! We made it to Evanston in 1 hour instead of 1/2 an hour. We were told the fuel injection motor had gone out and if we were to continue to drive it, it would ruin the motor. So, we unloaded the back seat of Tom's car so Bob could go home with them and bring a truck back up the next day to pull the trailer out of the Uintas. We called Cliff (a friend of ours who owns an Auto repair shop) and he was able to come up the next day (Sunday) and tow the truck home on his tow truck. Christina, Trudy, Anthony and I spent the night at a small motel. We are so grateful to Cliff that he was (1.) available and (2.) had the right equipment to get us home. He let us use his duly truck that he had just bought two weeks ago to pull the trailer home with! All in all it was a nice trip, but once again it will end up being more expensive then we had planned on!
