Boston Trip

Boston was great. The weather was mild. Usually sunny in the morning and clouding up by afternoon with rain showers on some evenings. We went for an AIA convention. The convention is for classes to keep up the required education points to keep Bob's archetects license. After the convention we toured Boston toghether. I toured a little on my own while he was at the convention.
This is the USS Constitution. "Old Iron Side".
This is USS Cassin Young. A World War II destroyer. Both at the Charlestown Navy Yard.
This is the shore line of Boston. Taken while on the "in harbor" tour.
This is a gorgeous view of a light house on one of the islands way out in the Boston harbor. A good one of Bob too!

This is a picture of Bunker Hill. We climbed the 294 stairs up! There are 4 little windows on each side to look out and view the Boston area.

We went on a whale watch cruise and were able to see whales swimming. They would surface and then go back down. No glorious jumping though. This first picture you can see two whales swimming. A mother and her baby. The guides said they don't see that very often. Look just off the edge of the ship and you can see the two humps.
In this picture you can see it's blow snout!

The Old North Church where the two lanterns were hung. The streets in Boston are so narrow and small! Driving can be very crazy here.
This is Paul Revere's house.

This is a street to drive on! Plus original buildings. You can also see the red brick line that marks the path of the freedon walk.
We went to the Boston Temple and did a session there. It is very beautiful in side. Always such a peaceful place to be. One of the medium to smaller temples.
This is a picture of the Lexington Battle Green. Site of the first shots of the Revolution. It is now a city park memorial.

This is the Battle road where the minute men fought the red coats all the way from Concord to Lexington sending them back to Boston.

This in the North Bridge where the first shot was fired known as "the shot heard around the world."

This is the Minute Man Statue to remember all the citizens who gave their lives for freedom.

There are of course more pictures! But I hope you get the idea. It was all very intetesting and very educational! Plus, it was great spending the time with just the two of us together. A wonderful experience!

We are back!

We are back after our week trip to Boston! It was great! So much to see in so little time! We saw a lot of historical sights and also went to the Boston LDS Temple. I will get pictures posted soon. I am still recuperating. Just going through the mail and email right now.
Christina went to her Thespian/Drama banquet while we were gone. She received a pin for becoming a member of the Thespian Club. A pin for becoming an honor Thespian, and she lettered in the club allowing her to receive her Thespian letter pin. Here is a picture of her dressed up for the banquet. Anarie helped her do her hair.

Tid-bits of information.

Bob has been given his own office space. Since he was made a principle and office manager 2 years ago, he has had to do a lot of personal interviews of employees. And also interviews to hire new people. He has had to "borrow" someone else's office in the past. Now that one of the principle's is going on a mission, Bob was given his office. He says it's a bit lonely because he isn't able to visit as freely as before. But, maybe now he will be able to get his reports done easier! Maybe?!? If his phone would quit ringing!!
At least his view out the window is nice!
At the end of April, Christina tried out for the "big band era show" "Celebrate America". She just got word that she was accepted. She will be a dancer. This is the one that is held on campus at USU. It honors the military, police, and fire fighters. She also tried out the the Music Theater West's musical "Little Women" the first of May. She had to sing a broadway song. She tried for the part of "Amy". We found out she didn't make that one. But it was good practice for future auditions for musicals. She wants to get into singing leads and expand beyond just dancing.
This is a sample picture of what "Celebrate America" is like.
Here is Anarie in her dress for her "Concerto Night". She did a wonderful job as soloist playing with the orchestra. Doesn't she look pretty, with the flowers adding a nice touch!? Steven sure is a proud husband!

Here is Grandma and Grandpa's new kitchen!

This is the new finished kitchen. So much more open and bright! This is the picture hall of fame! Once again brighter because of the yellow paint. No more dark paneling. Look at this trim! It sure adds a lot to the good looks of the kitchen.

Look at these proud GRADUATES!!

Here they are "walking". they are in the middle (about two-three rows behind the guy carrying the bag) Here is a close up of the two excited graduates! Walking was fun. Especially on this beautiful spring day!
This is the score board at graduation.
This is Anarie Petroff, wife of Steven. Very proud graduate of a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, which means she mainted a 3.95-4.0 grade point average the whole 4 years there!!! What diligence! This is Lieren Hansen. Wife of Kent Hansen, cousin to Steven, etc. She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts majoring in History! She graduated Cum Laude, which means she maintained a grade point average of 3.5-3.79!! Way to go you two for acheiving so highly in your studies!

Here is what we splurged on!

We have been talking about getting a travel trailer for sometime and finally decided to break down and get one! Now we can have everything ready in the trailer and if we decide to go for a week-end of camping we can just hook-up and go! Plus it always seems to rain when we go camping, so now maybe we can stay dry and warm!
